I Have Confidence

What happened to me blogging once a week? Aaargh! And where is Dumbledore with my Time Turner? I could really use one right about now.

This is going to be a post of quotes and some pics and some updates, all rather haphazardly thrown together.

Let us begin!

First, here's a screenshot of a Punjabi Portal post in the "Celebrity Member Christa Cannon" forum from June:

"To win without risk is to triumph without glory." ~ Pierre Corneille

"A life spent making mistakes in not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." ~ George Bernard Shaw

"Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life." ~ Bertolt Brecht

"Vision without execution is hallucination." ~ Thomas Edison

Ever since I was a little girl, I've lived in my very own Fantasyland. It's cool--they know me there! All my wildest fantasies come true and I can bask in my own happiness.

But I'm not a little girl anymore, and living in The Real World: Christa is that much harder because of my tendency to escape inside of myself. And not only that, but sometimes it's hard to distinguish truth from fiction...my hallucinations are very real at times!

So I'm working on living outside of my fantasies--where I don't yet have an Oscar and I'm not starring opposite Cillian Murphy in an Irish indie and Andy and I don't own an old historic home on the east coast or a vacation home on PEI.

I'm working on making those fantasties come true, though. It's hard, exhausting, slow work...

I never thought following my dreams would be easy...I've known since I was little that it would be hard, that it would take so much out of me, that there would be so many times when I'd just want to give up.

I did that a couple times through the years--just quit and say, "I'm not meant to do this." And that's when I was at my most miserable. So I know better than to quit! It is what I'm meant to do--it's so cliche, but it's in my blood, and I can't live without it.

I'm crazy, exhausted, incoherent, sleepless, and no closer to finishing up my huge and never-ending to-do list...but dammit, I'M GOING TO GET A BEST ACTRESS OSCAR SOMEDAY.

These days, I'm wearing several different hats. There's my Wife hat, my Friend hat, my 3 Part-Time Jobs hat, my Producer hat, my Daughter hat, my Writer hat, my Parent of Ella hat (pets count!), my Regular Ol' Person hat, my Redecorator & Remodeler's hat, my Genealogist's hat, my Creator's hat, my Accountant's hat, my Social Media for the Webseries hat, my Social Media for Me hat, my Webdesigner for the Series hat, my Webdesigner for My Site hat, my Dreamer's hat, and my Actor/Singer hat. And yes, I've got my Dork hat on there, too.

And I know I've forgotten a few other hats, but I'm okay with them being hidden at the moment!

But when I get that 8.5-pounds of gold and look at that little nekkid butt, all of this...the headaches, the tears, the questioning, the doubts, the worries, the failures...ALL OF IT will be worth it.

And I'm willing to go through so much more to reach that goal.

It's the one thing in my life that I can't compromise on. I'm willing to give up a lot to reach it, if necessary. Though let's hope I don't have to!

Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires courage. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Let me tell you the secret that has led me to my goal: my strength lies solely in my tenacity. ~ Louis Pasteur

I guess it's a good thing I'm a stubborn fool, eh?

The premier was a ton o' fun, and some of my friends in the area came out to support me, as well, which was nothing short of heartwarming and fantastic! My parents were able to come, too, so I got to share all of this with them! Andy and I couldn't afford to get him out there  until the last minute, when airfare skyrockets! I missed him being there, and he was more than a little bummed, too...but I told him he can be at my next one--which will be even bigger and better!

Here are a few things being said about my performance:

watched today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wat impressed me a lot is CHRISTA CANNON ji....when we come to CHRISTA CANNON,,shes such a shweeeeeet...when she spoke PUNJABI in the movie,,she's at her best...

Hope we will see christa ji more in punjabi movies...

Seriously the most impressive thing in the film was Christa Cannon, She is an amazing actresses,,, wish to see more of her films,,, She reminded me of that American girl in Rang De Basanti "Sue/Su or whatever", infact she acted & looked better than her,,,  Christa Cannon is brilliant. She is flawless, never makes you realize that she is a foreigner. I strongly believe if everything goes well, she should reach greater heights in Indian Cinema.

MILE HIGH LACI is coming along...slowly but surely. We had hoped to get everything filmed within the month of August, but it's like herding cats trying to get everyone scheduled...so we're heading into October to finish a few more scenes. I'm more than a little disappointed about that, but it is what it is.

We've been blessed to secure several locations! Integrative Health is where most of the action takes place, in all episodes! Bryan Bowen is one of the greatest guys I know--and he's also my acupuncturist! He lets us take over his building, re-arrange everything, and doesn't complain. Of course, we put everything back and make it even cleaner than it was before, so I guess it's not a bad trade-off! ;)

Kirk, the manager of LoDo's Bar and Grill, is letting us use the bar for a lot of scenes, too! Laci's dad owns a pub, and this is where we'll film those scenes! Many thanks to Michael (our Peter) who put us into contact with his friend Kirk.

Audrey (our Eliza) helped us secure Spa in the City for the opening teaser scene of the pilot episode! Her good friend Gina is the owner, and graciously allowed us to take over one Sunday while they were closed!

Crystal Gardner and I finally finished the MHL website--please head on over and take a peek! We've been getting a lot of compliments on the character descriptions--that's all thanks to our brilliantly funny writer, Kevin Campbell!

Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE TO OUR NEWSLETTER!!! (I'll give you three guesses as to who wrote the emails you'll get confirming your subscription...tee-hee!)

And check out some behind-the-scenes videos, where you'll see just how many name-and-plot changes there've been! Ha-ha...too funny. :) And am I trying to do a cannon sound at the end of mine? "Cannon--Out!" Maybe that'll be my new thing. ;)

Just auditioned for THE SOUND OF MUSIC yesterday...found out this morning that I've made the callbacks! They've whittled it down to six Marias out of 80!!! And I'm one of the six! So I need to start getting ready...those are this evening, so send me some good juju! She's a Dream Role, and one I won't be able to play in another 5-6 years or so. Well, maybe...one can hope!

With each step I am more certain
Everything will turn out fine
I have confidence the world can all be mine
They'll have to agree I have confidence in me!

  3. Hi Christa,

I watched your first punjabi movie "Chhevan Dariya". Storyline was great and above all, your acting.....You have done an awesome job!!!! Initially, when my brother Navtej Sandhu mentioned me about you, my first impression was, "O Great!!! Must be another show piece to make movie hit". But I am proud to say that you have proved me wrong. Eventhough there were not enough Punjabi dialogues for you, but who cares!!! Your face expressions/body language has done full justice to the role. Looking forward to see you in more Punjabi movies. Keep up the fantastic work!!!
